UAW 4811 Statement on Trump’s Travel Ban for International Scholars

Trump’s new travel ban is another attack on international scholars, and as we have in the past, UAW 4811 members will stand together to oppose it. In 2017, UC academic workers helped galvanize the nationwide movement that defeated the Muslim ban, and we are proud to carry on that fight today. But UC management must also stand up for the international scholars who contribute so much to its teaching and research mission. That’s why we are calling on management to take meaningful action in defense of its international workforce, including by providing job security for those facing an immigration-related loss of employment. It’s time for the UC administration to join the rest of the community in opposing Trump’s assault on international workers’ rights.
