Bargaining Update #11: All out for a fair contract TOMORROW at 4pm
With just one month left before expiration of our contracts, UC has yet to make serious proposals to address some of the biggest issues facing Academic Student Employees (ASEs): job security, fair and stable pay, and protections for international workers. And despite some progress, we remain apart on critical articles like Non-discrimination and Respectful Work Environment, where UC is trying to roll back protections from harassment, discrimination, and bullying that ASEs negotiated in 2022. This Thursday, thousands of ASEs and UAW-represented research and advising staff will rally across all campuses to demand that UC reach fair contracts with all UAW workers. Sign up to attend a rally on your campus below!
11/18 Bargaining Update
At the bargaining session yesterday, ASEs made proposals on Respectful Work Environment, Nondiscrimination, Retirement, Appointment Security, Discipline and Dismissal, and Employment Files. UC made proposals on Discipline and Dismissal, Employment Files, ASE Workload, and Grievance and Arbitration.
Additionally, ASEs and management agreed to replace the December 2 LA bargaining date with four dates in Berkeley on December 8, 9, 10, and 11. You can view all proposals on the bargaining tracker.
To force management to negotiate a fair agreement, workers are coming together TOMORROW at 4pm and demonstrating the broad support for these urgently needed demands.
