UAW 4811 Is Hiring: Videographer
UAW 4811 (a union of academic workers at the University of California) is looking for a talented videographer committed to sharing workers’ stories, building public support for workers in public education and research, and building a powerful and democratic union. The ideal candidates will have previous experience working with labor. This will be a Full Time position, and candidates must be willing and able to travel throughout California.
Job Duties:
Shoot video
Record audio
Design and execute video training program for members
Plan and stage rallies, mass meetings, and other union actions
Edit video in nonlinear editing software (Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve etc)
Distribute videos on social media, including written political and campaign messaging
Additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
2-3 years video/digital media experience in a professional capacity; demonstrated skill in recording and editing high-quality digital video and audio
Demonstrated work on internal and external communications for labor, political, and/or progressive issue-advocacy campaigns in California;
Prior experience working in, or knowledge of, the labor movement;
Strong work ethic and strict attention to detail;
Ability to take initiative and prioritize multiple tasks and time-sensitive assignments;
The ability to meet with workers in a variety of locations on your assigned campaign. This role will include talking with workers both one-on-one and in groups;
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed;
Proficient with Google tools such as Gmail and Google Drive (docs & sheets)
Knowledge of social media platforms
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Experience with web and graphic design platforms and basic design skills for electronic and print publications and social media
Experience in audio engineering and editing
Experience with animation and effects programs (e.g. Adobe AfterEffects)
Experience developing and placing social media and digital ads to amplify organizational and campaign messaging
Proficiency in multiple nonlinear editing platforms
Experience training and mentoring others in photography, videography, and/or editing
Knowledge of the labor movement, including principles of union organizing and collective bargaining
Ability to quickly synthesize and distill large quantities of complex policy and/or issue related information.
Experience with academia, particularly within the University of California system
Pay and Benefits:
Salary starts at $78,718 - $89,946 per year for full-time employment, depending on experience. This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
