RESEARCH FUNDING

TOWN HALLS

The Trump administration is refusing to release billions of dollars in research funding that Congress has allocated for fiscal year 2025. And Trump’s proposed 2026 budget would dramatically cut funding to agencies across the research spectrum. These cuts would be a disaster for science and for the country, and academic workers are organizing to make sure our elected officials understand how serious this crisis is.

Funding for scientific agencies falls under discretionary spending, which is subject to the filibuster and thus needs 60 votes to pass the Senate. This gives our representatives leverage to negotiate against Trump's proposed cuts to Scientific agencies like the NSF, NIH, Department of Energy, and others. But only if academic workers move them to make it a priority.

At town halls across the state, UAW 4811 members are calling on our representatives to stand up for research funding. To move California’s entire Congressional delegation, members on every campus will need to take action. To join a town hall in your area, please click the button below!
